Why We Built the Institute

In fall 2025, one of my bearded dragons became ill. During his recovery, I began keeping detailed records of meals, hydration, weight, bowel movements, and other health indicators so I could better understand what was helping and where changes needed to be made.

That process grew into something much larger. I started building a structured nutrition and health database to organize information on common foods, vitamins, minerals, dietary risks, and other factors relevant to daily care. What began as a personal tracking system became a practical tool for making better husbandry decisions.

At the same time, I became increasingly frustrated with how much reptile information online is repetitive, oversimplified, or copied from the same limited sources. The Pogona Institute was created to offer something deeper: an independent, ad-free resource that combines practical care guidance, structured tracking tools, nutrition-focused research, and species-specific information in one place.
